Taking only a matter of months to supersede the last world record set in Arlington,Texas, the new world record for the largest CPR training class has now moved south of the border to Mexico with the aid of MiniAnne / CPR Anytime. Earlier this year on the 21st March - 6,577 people passed through the turnstiles of Stadium Jalisco to participate in what has been dubbed – The First Cardio Marathon.
 

Training and education of students in paramedicine and for EMS staff is changing after the Tasmanian Ambulance Service implemented simulation training in 2006. The hands-on simulation training has the learners demonstrate knowledge and skills at a whole new level and the training generates conficence. 

Their pupils can dilate. They can replicate abnormal breathing patterns. They can bleed and even go into shock.

They can also help save lives.

That’s a lot to ask of a manikin, but the staff of the newly opened III Marine Expeditionary Force Casualty Simulation Center is confident in its state-of-the-art gear.

Founded in 1949, the National Federation of Licensed Professional Nurses (NFLPN) is the official voice of licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) in the United States. It provides leadership for nearly one million members and is the only organization governed entirely by LPNs and LVNs. The NFLPN fosters high standards of nursing care and promotes continued competence through education/certification and lifelong learning, with an emphasis on public protection. NFLPN established the first continuing education program in the US nursing field in 1968; they continue to evaluate programs and award continuing education credits (CEUs) when programs meet their high standards.

To better facilitate learning of clinical and communication skills, the University of Bath invested in a state-of-the-art training suite for their pharmacy students. A full size human-like advanced simulator further enables the students to practice examination skills, including diagnosis and treatment of patients. 

"The post-op patient was going into hypovolemic shock," shares a junior BSN student at Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pa. "He was hollering at me, the vitals were dropping, I had to think quickly—what’s my first nursing intervention? Who do I call? How can I utilize my resources? How can I reassure my patient?"

A new Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Training CPR Lesson’ has been made in Arlington, Texas. One hundred and four school buses transported 4,626 Arlington Independent School District eighth grade students to Cowboys stadium in Arlington to take part in the 30 minute training session.

In 2005, the National Board of Health and the Danish Red Cross launched a project distributing free CPR training kits to all Danish 7^th Grade school children. With their strong focus on CPR training and already engaged in a number of community CPR programmes, the TrygFonden foundation considered this school project an excellent opportunity to further widen the scope of CPR competence among the lay public.

The Province of Bolzano-Bozen, also referred to as South Tyrol, is an autonomous province in northern Italy, situated to the south of Austria, directly within the Alps.

The center for Military Medicine was looking to renew its educational models as the instructors wanted to bring more realism into the replicated war-like scenarios that are developed for paramedic training. The center found that a simulation studio would enable the training team to recreate more lifelike battlefields, treatment sites, and rare types of emergency situations than the more traditional methods had previously allowed for.

To reflect the needs of their diversified customer base, ETR looked for a way to provide multiple realistic training scenarios; whether the trainees were family members who wanted to know how to deliver CPR for a rehabilitating cardiac patient or emergency room physicians who needed to respond to a gunshot wound.

SimMan 3G appeared on national television. Simman 3G was used to demonstrate how to conduct CPR in a home emergency situation.

Three hospitals investigate ways to achieve these objectives with their BLS training and adopt the HeartCode program.

Emergency Consultants Inc. started quite by chance in 1984. The Texas Department of Health called upon Jerry Reichel to help provide EMS training. As an EMS provider, he had already conducted training to meet the specific needs of Emergency Services personnel in West Columbia, Texas.

Inga-Britt from Lesja in Norway reacted instantly as her father arrested and collapsed across the dinner table. First she dialed for an ambulance. Then she instructed her mother how to perform CPR on the father.

Having recognized that human factors underlie most medical errors, Tubingen University Hospital focused a broader approach to patient safety. Crisis Resource Management (CRM) training was seen as the best option to counteract the human factor threat, and simulation the obvious tool to make the deficits visible, understandable and trainable, and the means to reach the learning goals. The Geneva University Hospital serves a population of 450,000 and employs 1,300 physicians and 3,400 nurses. The Simulation Program at the University Hospital of Geneva (SIMULHUG) was established in 2007. Dr. Savoldelli, Consultant Anesthesiologist at the hospital and a key driver behind the program, wanted to provide better training methods for the hospital’s physicians, nurses and medical students, and believed that simulation was an effective route to improve individual medical skills and the performance of interdisciplinary teams. In February 2010, Lord Ara Darzi, former health minister, officially opened the new simulation centre at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The state-of-the-art centre, which has been built primarily to train over 1,000 medical staff over the next two years, is an exemplar of the NHS’s commitment to improve patient safety.
