Nursing Patient Cases for SimMan 3G

Simulation in Nursing Education, Volume 1

This package contains twenty (20) Patient Cases which address major learning objectives applicable to all types of undergraduate nursing programs. Developed for use with SimMan 3G in Auto Mode which combines physiological and pharmacological models, pre-programmed Patient Cases and methods for managing model-based simulation.

The instructor can tailor the difficulty of each case to match learner skills and to promote the development of:

• Patient assessment skills
• Identification of nursing diagnosis
• Management of care
• Implementation of appropriate interventions
• Evaluation of performance using guided reflection

Ten (10) medical cases reflect basic assessment, safety and infection control, prevention of complications, and development of communication skills.

Ten (10) surgical cases use the same patient history but require recognition and management of complications, advanced team collaboration and communication.

This package contains:

• A CD with twenty (20) NLN patient cases and one installation key that unlocks the installation program (A key installation must be done on the SimMan 3G instructor application to access the NLN Patient Case package. Customers must utilize SW Version 1.1 or newer)
• A binder with Learning and support materials to complement the preprogrammed patient cases including:

  • Learning objectives compiled for all patient cases on one page for quick reference
  • A list of the 2007 NCLEX-RN® Test Plan Categories outlined to track and match student simulated clinical experiences to the test plan
  • Equipment checklists
  • Manikin set-up instructions
  • Debriefing guides
  • Patient Information Card forms for all patient cases
  • Physician orders forms for all patient cases
  • Data collection forms for all patient cases
  • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification tags) that will cover all medication and equipment needed to run the 20 cases
